Taehyung Pov
I walked toward my car in the parking lot, the crisp evening air nipping at my skin. Jimin, ever the optimist, had driven us to the meeting with Alex, but something had felt off from the moment I sat down. It was like an electric hum, low and steady, running through my veins, and no matter how hard I tried to shake it off, the feeling wouldn't go away. Something was going to happen. But what?
"You're not looking too hot, Tae," Jimin commented as he adjusted the rearview mirror, his voice playful but with a hint of concern. "What's going on?"
I shrugged, trying to dismiss the feeling. "Nothing. Just tired."I leaned back against the headrest, closing my eyes. The hum inside me didn't stop, but I let the exhaustion take over. I needed a moment of peace before whatever this was decided to hit.The car jolted, pulling me from my thoughts as Jimin slammed on the brakes. I opened my eyes, confusion flooding my brain as I glanced around.
"This isn't the meeting place," I muttered, raising an eyebrow at Jimin. He turned to me, a playful grin stretching across his face. "Coffee," he said simply, his smile almost too smug for my liking.
I stared at him, disbelief evident on my face. "Coffee? Jimin, we're supposed to be at a meeting, not—"He cut me off. "I'll come after taking this call," he said, already pulling his phone out. "You go ahead."Without another word, I opened the car door and stepped out, my mind still racing. But the moment my foot hit the ground, my senses sharpened, like a switch had been flipped.
Lavender.
The scent was overwhelming—sweet and calming yet intoxicating, as though it was calling to me. My heart raced, and I froze mid-step. Where was it coming from? The fragrance wrapped around me, pulling me toward the small, cozy café that stood in front of me like it had been waiting for me all along.
I pushed the door open, and the bell above it chimed softly. But as soon as I stepped inside, something else hit me—something that made my breath catch in my throat.
(Just assume with black hair)
Eyes.
A pair of large, doe-like eyes locked onto mine across the room, and everything else in the café faded away. The noise, the chatter, the smell of coffee—all of it disappeared. I couldn't look away. It felt like time itself had frozen as I stared into those eyes, soft and curious, as if they were looking straight through me.And then, as if the universe had whispered the truth into my ear, the word came to me.
Mate.
My heart skipped a beat. My pulse quickened.Mate.
I couldn't move, couldn't speak. All I could do was stand there, my mind racing, trying to make sense of what was happening. I heard someone call out to me, but it sounded distant, as if coming from underwater. My focus remained locked on the figure before me—the beautiful person whose scent had ensnared me in its grip.
The moment dragged on, my mind struggling to process what was happening. But it was too much, too fast. Something inside me stirred, restless and urgent. I had to leave before I did something foolish.
I tore my gaze away from him and turned to leave
The door swung shut behind me, the bell's chime lingering in my ears.
I didn't remember how I got to the car, or how long I had been driving, but the next thing I knew, I was stopping in front of a quiet forest. I hadn't even realized my hands had been shaking until I stepped out of the car. The panic that had been clawing at me from the moment I left the café suddenly began to subside.
I needed space.
And I needed V.
The moment I stepped into the woods, I felt the shift. My body rippled, bones cracking and rearranging as I dropped to all fours, my human form vanishing as my wolf took over. I ran.
I didn't know for how long. My feet pounded against the earth, my mind emptying with each stride. The world around me blurred into a swirl of color, the moonlight above bathing the trees in an ethereal glow. I pushed myself harder, faster, until I reached the edge of a cliff, the wind biting at my fur as I stood there, staring up at the full moon hanging high in the sky.
And then, I howled. A long, guttural cry that echoed through the forest, a release for all the tension, the confusion, the overwhelming emotions I could barely hold back. I howled until my chest ached, until the world felt like it had come back into focus. The ache in my heart didn't fade, but at least now I could breathe.
Slowly, the world around me returned to normal, the forest's quiet murmurs creeping back into my senses. I shifted back, my human form taking over once more. I stood there for a moment, letting the cool night air wash over me.
"We have a mate, V," I whispered, my voice thick with emotion.
The realization was still settling in, still overwhelming, but deep down, I knew it was true. I could feel it, every fiber of my being thrumming with the knowledge that he—my mate—was out there.
"We have a mate, Tae. Finally," V replied, his voice full of joy and relief, the bond between us pulsing stronger than ever. "The wait is over."
I closed my eyes, letting the happiness flood over me. This was real. This was it.But then, V's voice grew more serious.
"He's a human, Tae. A special one."
I froze, my eyes snapping open. "What do you mean, special?" I asked, confusion creeping into my voice.
"He's special," V repeated, almost as though he was reassuring me, but it did little to calm the storm that had already started inside my chest.
"And we'll protect him. Don't worry."
"We will." I felt the certainty in my words
The thought of losing him, of not being able to protect him, twisted my gut. "He's beautiful," V said, and I could hear the awe in his voice. "I can't wait to mate him."
I closed my eyes, the image of the boy's face, his doe eyes, flashing behind my lids. "Yes. Beautiful. And cute. Those eyes..."
The words stuck in my throat. My chest tightened again as I thought about what I had done—leaving him behind in that café without even a word. I had to fix it. I had to make it right.I ran my hands through my hair, taking a deep breath before I turned to leave the forest. There was no time to waste.I had a mate to find.---I drove home in a daze, the smile on my lips small but genuine. But when I stepped through the door, the weight of reality came crashing down.
"Taehyung," Jimin's voice rang out across the hallway, sharp and full of frustration.I flinched, turning to face him. He stood there, arms crossed, eyes burning with anger. I could feel the tension in the air. The rest of the guys were there too, sitting in the living room, all eyes on me.
"You disappeared on me," Jimin snapped. "What the hell, Tae?"
I opened my mouth to respond, but before I could, Jin hyung stepped in, his voice calm but serious.
"What's going on, Taehyung? You've never done anything like this before."
I could feel their eyes on me, waiting for an explanation. But there was only one thing that mattered now."I found my mate," I said, the words tumbling out before I could stop them. The room went silent. "What?"
I nodded, my voice steady now. "I found him. In the café. He's... human." There were gasps all around, but I didn't have time to explain further before Yoongi cut in."Did you even talk to him?"
I winced, the guilt creeping back into my chest. "I—I left before I could. But... it was real. I can feel it. He's my mate."
I heard Jimin let out an exasperated sigh, but before he could say anything, Namjoon hyung spoke up, his voice concerned.
"Tae, you need to go back. Now. Don't leave him like that. He could be confused, hurt..."
I nodded, my heart pounding in my chest.
You need to go find him, Taehyung," Namjoon hyung said after a moment. "Now."
I nodded, standing up from the couch with determination. "I will."
Before I could leave, Jimin threw his hands up in exasperation. "This better not be some reckless, impulsive thing, Tae. We're talking about a human here. If you mess this up..."
"I won't," I cut him off, my voice steady and cold.
With that, I turned and walked out the door. My heart pounded in my chest, and I could feel V stirring within me, excited, anxious. It was time to find him. Time to make things right.
